Hello and thank you for visiting Wise Dog Niagara. My name is Maggie.

I am the owner of a 5.5 year old German Shepherd named Samwise who I have owned since a puppy. I grew up with a family dog but being responsible for my own sparked an interest in training and behavior, especially when Sam became reactive towards other dogs around 1.5 years.

Owning a reactive dog can be incredibly challenging, frustrating and isolating but I am grateful for where Sam has led me. I have learned so much since becoming a dog owner and trainer, both through my own trials and an apprenticeship under two established trainers. Dog training as a profession is an unregulated industry, which means there are multiple schools of thought and conflicting information available. I am committed to continued education and sharing my knowledge with both my peers and clients. My goal as a trainer is to educate the community on what I believe it means to be a responsible dog owner, but more importantly how to create a balanced, healthy and HAPPY relationship with your dog.

NEW DOG
CONSULTATION

Whether a puppy or senior dog, this consult is your guide to starting off on the right foot with your new companion; as well, learn to trouble shoot common problems that often arise with new dog ownership.

Ideal for dogs of any age.

Included but not limited to:

Breed specific recommendations for training, exercise and mental stimulation
How to develop your relationship and build engagement with your dog
Establish and enforce structure, boundaries and thresholds
Common Behaviour Concerns – biting, chewing, jumping, barking
Socialization
House Breaking
Toys and Treats – uses and safety precautions
Crate Training

Consultation (1 1/2 - 2 Hours)

OBEDIENCE & BEHAVIOUR FOUNDATIONS

Lay the foundation of your dog’s obedience & develop your skills as their handler. Training is done in and around your home - I come to you!

Ideal for dogs at least 4 months and older.

Included:

5 basic commands that all dogs should know: sit, down, heel, place & recall
Build engagement with your dog
Establish and enforce thresholds
Marker training
Develop food motivation

6 Week Course

Price: $550 [tax included]

*This course can be customized based on your individual goals with your dog. Additional lessons are $90 [tax included].

CUSTOMIZED BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION

Majority of dog owners experience or struggle with unwanted behaviours. However minor, it doesn’t make them any less unpleasant to deal with. At best, behavioural issues can be frustrating, isolating and can have a negative impact on the relationship you have with your dog. At worst, they can result in rehoming, surrender or euthanasia.

The good news? There is always room for improvement. Behaviour modification is not a quick fix but is sustainable and realistic training that will allow you and your dog to lead a more fulfilled life together. This comprehensive consultation addresses the primary behaviour(s) but also any underlying issues that are often overlooked as contributing factors.

Behaviour issues include but are not limited to:

Reactivity and aggression
Separation Anxiety
Resource Guarding
Fear and nervousness
Excessive jumping or barking

Consultation (1 1/2 - 2 Hours)

Included; an in depth look at your dog’s behaviour issue(s) as well as your goals with your dog. I will also assess your dog’s baseline obedience level and your skills as a handler (don’t worry, this isn’t a test). Getting to know you and your dog better gives me the information I need to create a customized training plan and provide you with recommendations you can start implementing right away.

Lessons (1 Hour)

This is where we really get to work. Lessons build off the consult and are where we start fine tuning your dog’s obedience and improving behaviour(s) using a variety of training methods and techniques. Lessons generally start in and around your home but can progress to more public places depending on the behaviour(s) we are working on.

Package 1: Consult + 1 lesson - $260 [tax included]

Package 2: Consult + 2 lessons - $350 [tax included]

Package 3: Consult + 3 lessons - $440 [tax included]
